Charge to Solomon. 6 Then he summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel. 7 (A)David said to Solomon: “My son, it was my purpose to build a house myself for the name of the Lord, my God. 8 But this word of the Lord came to me: You have shed much blood, and you have waged great wars. You may not build a house for my name, because you have shed too much blood upon the earth in my sight.
